Depop fees: what sellers actually keep
Depop’s fees by country, what you keep at six prices, a list-price formula, the real cost of Boosting and when the money lands, all from Depop’s own pages.

Key takeaways
- 1Sellers in the US, UK and Australia pay no Depop selling fee. A payment processing fee of 3.3% + $0.45 (US) or 2.9% + £0.30 (UK) comes off every sale, charged on the item, the shipping and any tax.
- 2On items from $10 to $200, a US seller keeps about 92% to 96.5% of the item price. Small sales lose the most, because the fixed $0.45 is a bigger slice of a cheap item.
- 3A sale from a boosted listing costs another 12% of the item price in the US and UK, which cuts what you keep to about 80% to 85%. Price for it before you switch Boosting on.

What are Depop’s fees?
The short answer
Depop charges sellers in the US, UK and Australia no selling fee. Every sale pays a payment processing fee instead: 3.3% + $0.45 in the US and 2.9% + £0.30 in the UK, on the item price plus shipping and any tax. A sale from a boosted listing adds a 12% Boosting fee in both countries.
Depop’s how Depop works guide confirms it: no selling fees in those three countries, and buyers pay their own marketplace fee and, by default, the shipping. This page covers fees only; for listing, offers and shipping step by step, read how to sell on Depop.
Depop selling fees by country: US, UK, Australia and everywhere else
The short answer
Where you are based sets your Depop fees. The US, UK and Australia have no selling fee, only payment processing through Depop Payments. Sellers anywhere else, selling in another currency, pay a 10% selling fee plus PayPal’s processing fee.
| Seller based in | Selling fee | Payment processing | Boosting fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States | None | 3.3% + $0.45 | 12% |
| United Kingdom | None | 2.9% + £0.30 | 12% |
| Australia | None | 2.6% + A$0.30 | 8% |
| Everywhere else | 10% of the item price, plus shipping if no Depop Shipping label | PayPal’s fee, which varies | 8% |
All from Depop’s seller fees and charges page, for sales made through the Buy button. The Boosting fee applies only to a sale from a boosted listing.
The fee buyers pay, and why it still matters to you
Buyers in the UK and US pay a marketplace fee of up to 5% of the item price plus up to £1 or $1, excluding tax and shipping, per Depop’s marketplace fee page. It never leaves your payout, but it raises what the buyer pays. Australia charges up to 5% plus up to A$1, per its Australian fee page, already built into the price buyers see (Australian pricing page).
Outside the UK, US and Australia
- 10% selling fee on the item price, excluding taxes, plus the shipping cost if you did not use a Depop Shipping label.
- PayPal’s fee on top. Depop says it varies by location and account setup, so check your PayPal account.
- Charged separately. Fees come out of PayPal as separate charges, up to 21 days after the sale, per Depop’s unrecognised fee page.
- Bundles pay per item. The selling fee is charged on each item in a bundle, and its bundles page says PayPal’s fee is too.
What Depop’s fees are charged on: item, shipping and sales tax
The short answer
Depop’s payment processing fee is charged on the whole amount the buyer pays you: the item price, the shipping and any sales tax. The Boosting fee and the 10% selling fee are charged on the item price, plus shipping only when you arranged it yourself.
| Fee | Item price | Shipping | Tax |
|---|---|---|---|
| Payment processing | Yes | Yes, including a Depop Shipping label | Yes |
| Boosting (12% or 8%) | Yes | Only shipping you arrange yourself | No |
| Selling fee (10%, outside UK/US/AUS) | Yes | Only without a Depop Shipping label | No |
| Marketplace fee (paid by the buyer) | Yes | No | No |
Sources: the fee page, the Boosted Listings Policy (“Boosting fees are not charged on Depop Shipping labels”) and the marketplace fee page.
Why you pay a fee on sales tax you never keep
Depop collects US sales tax for you on orders to US buyers, per its state sales tax page. That page also says the processing fee is charged on the total including tax. So a buyer in a high-tax state costs you a few cents more.
Shipping: what actually reaches you
- Depop Shipping. The buyer pays for the label: it is added to your payout, then deducted with the fees, so you lose only the processing fee on it.
- Your own shipping. You set the price at listing and receive it; you buy the tracked label yourself (see how to ship). Set it to zero and you pay shipping out of the sale.
- Shipping discounts. US sellers on iOS can take $2, $3 or $4 off Depop Shipping or make it free, per the discounts page. Whatever you take off comes out of your payout.

Depop’s help pages do not publish label prices. For those, see the cheapest way to ship clothes.
Depop fees worked out: what you keep at six prices
The short answer
After Depop fees, a US seller keeps $18.89 of a $20 sale, $47.90 of $50 and $96.25 of $100, before any Boosting. A UK seller keeps £19.12 of £20, £48.25 of £50 and £96.80 of £100. Shipping and tax paid by the buyer add 3.3% or 2.9% of their value to the fee.
United States: 3.3% + $0.45
| Item price | Processing fee | You keep | Kept | Fee with $10 shipping + tax | You keep then |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $10 | $0.78 | $9.22 | 92.2% | $1.11 | $8.89 |
| $20 | $1.11 | $18.89 | 94.5% | $1.44 | $18.56 |
| $30 | $1.44 | $28.56 | 95.2% | $1.77 | $28.23 |
| $50 | $2.10 | $47.90 | 95.8% | $2.43 | $47.57 |
| $100 | $3.75 | $96.25 | 96.3% | $4.08 | $95.92 |
| $200 | $7.05 | $192.95 | 96.5% | $7.38 | $192.62 |
United Kingdom: 2.9% + £0.30
| Item price | Processing fee | You keep | Kept | Fee with £10 shipping + tax | You keep then |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| £10 | £0.59 | £9.41 | 94.1% | £0.88 | £9.12 |
| £20 | £0.88 | £19.12 | 95.6% | £1.17 | £18.83 |
| £30 | £1.17 | £28.83 | 96.1% | £1.46 | £28.54 |
| £50 | £1.75 | £48.25 | 96.5% | £2.04 | £47.96 |
| £100 | £3.20 | £96.80 | 96.8% | £3.49 | £96.51 |
| £200 | £6.10 | £193.90 | 97.0% | £6.39 | £193.61 |
Each fee is Depop’s published rate, rounded to the cent, with no Boosting. The last two columns add 10 of shipping and tax, an example amount rather than a label price: it raises the fee by 33 cents in the US and 29 pence in the UK. Your exact split is on the sale receipt, under Depop Balance, Latest Transactions.
Fees rarely stop a Depop sale; price does. Pricing from sold items is in the Depop selling guide, and sourcing margins in how to become a clothing reseller.
A Depop fee calculator you can do on a napkin
The short answer
To price a Depop listing so you keep a set amount, add $0.45 and 3.3% of the shipping and tax to what you want, then divide by 0.967. In the UK, add £0.30 and 2.9% of the shipping, then divide by 0.971. If you will boost, divide by 0.847 (US) or 0.851 (UK) instead.
The boosted divisors assume a Depop Shipping label, so the 12% falls on the item price only. Ship your own way while boosted and the 12% also falls on your shipping charge.
- Decide what you want to keep. Pick the amount you want in your Depop Balance after fees, for example $40.
- Estimate shipping and tax. Add up what the buyer will pay for shipping and any sales tax, because the processing fee is charged on those too.
- Add the fixed fee and the fee on shipping. Add $0.45 in the US (or £0.30 in the UK), plus 3.3% (or 2.9%) of the shipping and tax.
- Divide by what is left after the percentage. Divide by 0.967 in the US or 0.971 in the UK. If you will boost the listing, divide by 0.847 or 0.851 instead.
- Round up and leave room for offers. Round up to a whole price and add the discount you would accept on an offer, since offers on Depop exclude shipping.
Worked example: keeping $40 on a jacket
- Not boosted: with about $8 of shipping and tax, ($40 + $0.45 + $0.26) ÷ 0.967 = $42.10. List at $43 and you keep $40.87.
- Boosted: ($40 + $0.45 + $0.26) ÷ 0.847 = $48.07. List at $49 and you keep $40.79.
- Room for offers: Depop’s Make Offer page says offers exclude shipping, so an offer cuts only the item price. To accept 10% off and still keep $40, list at $47: a $42.30 offer leaves you about $40.19.
How Boosting changes the math
The short answer
Boosting is free until it sells something. If a buyer saw your boosted listing and bought it within 28 days, you pay 12% of the item price in the US and UK (8% in Australia), on top of processing. That takes a US seller from keeping about 95% of a $30 sale to about 83%.
| Item price | Boosting fee (12%) | All fees (US) | You keep (US) | Kept | You keep (UK, in £) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $10 / £10 | $1.20 / £1.20 | $1.98 | $8.02 | 80.2% | £8.21 |
| $20 / £20 | $2.40 / £2.40 | $3.51 | $16.49 | 82.5% | £16.72 |
| $30 / £30 | $3.60 / £3.60 | $5.04 | $24.96 | 83.2% | £25.23 |
| $50 / £50 | $6.00 / £6.00 | $8.10 | $41.90 | 83.8% | £42.25 |
| $100 / £100 | $12.00 / £12.00 | $15.75 | $84.25 | 84.3% | £84.80 |
| $200 / £200 | $24.00 / £24.00 | $31.05 | $168.95 | 84.5% | £169.90 |
Computed with a Depop Shipping label and no shipping or tax, so the 12% falls on the item price only. The rules come from Depop’s Boosted Listings page and its Boosted Listings Policy.
The Boosting rules that change what you pay
- A view is enough. The policy says seeing the boosted tile counts, with no click needed. A buyer who never saw it triggers no fee.
- Unboosting is not instant. If a buyer saw the boosted listing before you stopped and buys within 28 days of that view, the fee still applies.
- Boost Shop boosts everything. It boosts every listing, including new ones, at the same rate. Unboosting a single item while it is on switches Boost Shop off for future listings.
- Promotions. A free Boosting offer for eligible US iOS users waives the fee on listings created in a 7-day window. Processing fees still apply.
When Boosting is worth 12%
A boosted sale costs about what a 12% price cut would. Depop’s grow your shop guide pitches Boosting as extra visibility where you only pay if the item sells. It suits pieces with margin to spare, or stock you want gone. On a cheap or slow item, try a discount or a bundle offer first. Boosted sales are marked on your receipts.
Where Depop’s own pages disagree
The short answer
Depop’s help pages do not all agree on fees. One still lists Boosting at 8% for everyone, and the Boosting policy’s UK example uses the US processing rate. When they conflict, your sale receipt is the final word.
| Topic | What one page says | What the others say |
|---|---|---|
| The Boosting rate | The “I don’t recognise a fee” page says a boosted sale adds “an additional 8% fee”. | The fee page and the Boosted Listings Policy say 12% in the UK and US. This guide uses 12%. |
| The UK Boosting example | The Boosted Listings Policy works through a boosted UK item selling for £50 (including shipping): £6.00 Boosting plus processing at 3.3% + £0.45 (£2.10), so £8.10 in fees. | That is the US rate. At the UK rate of 2.9% + £0.30, processing is £1.75 and the total is £7.75. |
| Who pays 8% for Boosting | The fee page gives 8% to all “Sellers outside of the UK and US”. | The Boosted Listings pages name only Australia at 8%. Outside those three countries, check your receipt. |
| Selling fees in Australia | The Boosting pages say selling fees are payable outside the UK and US. | The fee page and the Australian pricing page say there are no selling fees in Australia. |
| US payouts | The US payments page says you withdraw your Depop Balance to your bank. | The Withdrawals page says withdrawals are “not yet available to all users”. Follow what your Payments screen shows. |
Pages compared: the seller fees page, Boosted Listings, the Boosted Listings Policy, I don’t recognise a fee, the Australian pricing page, the US payments page and Withdrawals.
The fee page also marks the 12% UK and US rate as applying to new listings from 23 March, without saying what an older boosted listing pays.
Depop is now owned by eBay. Its acquisition FAQ says there are no planned changes to fees or payments, and that sellers will be told about any future change.
How and when Depop pays you
The short answer
Depop pays sale money into your Depop Balance with the fees already taken off, after the item is delivered. In the US and the UK with Depop Shipping, that is 2 business days after delivery or 10 business days after the sale, whichever comes first.
| Step | United States | United Kingdom |
|---|---|---|
| Money reaches you | 2 business days after delivery or 10 after the sale, whichever is first | Same with Depop Shipping; 10 business days after delivery with your own shipping |
| To your bank | You withdraw from Depop Balance; up to 5 days to show | Sent automatically; up to 5 days to appear |
| Before the first payout | A valid bank account; you may be asked to verify your identity | A valid bank account and an uploaded ID |
| Under 18 | A parent or guardian verifies their details for you | A parent or guardian verifies their details for you |
From Depop’s US and UK payment pages. Money from an order with an open buyer issue is held until it is resolved, and a refund sent when your balance is low can take it negative.
- Top Sellers are paid at once. Depop’s Top Seller page lists faster payouts, paid as soon as you sell. It takes three months in a row of $1,000, £1,000 or A$2,000 in sales a month, 50 new listings a month, a lifetime rating of 4.5 or better and buyer disputes under 3% of lifetime sales.
- Refunds reverse the fees. Every fee comes back automatically on a refunded Depop Payments sale. PayPal sellers claim the selling fee back through Depop’s fee refund form with proof of the refund.

Where a Tryly photo fits if you sell on Depop
The short answer
A Tryly photo does not go in a Depop listing: Depop’s stock images policy says to use only photos taken by yourself. Tryly is for the places you sell the same pieces off Depop, such as your own store, Instagram and ads, where an on-model shot shows how the piece hangs on a body.
Depop’s stock images policy asks that every photo in your shop is original, not lifted from an online source. Your own phone photos of the actual item are the listing; the guide to photographing clothes to sell covers the method.
- On Depop: only photos you took of the actual item.
- On your own store, Instagram and ads: the same piece on one of 500+ models, or your own model or yourself, made from the flat photo you already took with AI clothing photography.
Before
AfterTryly photos made on a paid plan can go on your store, in ads and on social media, at one credit per photo. Plans start at $9.99/month, from $0.33 per day, and as low as $0.25 per photo, so a worn shot of each of 20 pieces is $5. More in Instagram for clothing brands.
Depop fees: questions sellers ask
How much does Depop take from a sale?+
In the US and UK, Depop charges no selling fee, only a payment processing fee: 3.3% + $0.45 in the US and 2.9% + £0.30 in the UK, on the item price plus shipping and any tax. On a $30 item that is $1.44 before shipping, so you keep $28.56. A sale from a boosted listing adds 12% of the item price.
Does Depop still have a 10% fee?+
Only for sellers outside the UK, US and Australia who sell in another currency. They pay a 10% selling fee on the item price, plus the shipping cost if they did not use a Depop Shipping label, and PayPal’s own processing fee on top. Sellers in the UK, US and Australia pay no selling fee.
Is the Depop fee charged on shipping?+
Yes, the payment processing fee is. Depop charges it on the item price plus shipping costs and any applicable taxes, including US sales tax that Depop collects and passes on. The 12% Boosting fee is different: it is never charged on a Depop Shipping label, only on shipping you arrange yourself.
How much is the Depop Boosting fee?+
12% of the item sale price in the UK and US, and 8% in Australia, plus any shipping you arranged yourself. You only pay it when a buyer saw the boosted listing and bought the item within 28 days of that view. It comes on top of the payment processing fee.
Who pays the Depop marketplace fee?+
The buyer. In the UK, US and Australia, buyers pay up to 5% of the item price plus up to £1, $1 or A$1, excluding tax and shipping. It does not come out of your payout, but it raises what the buyer pays, so it matters when you compare your price with other apps.
When do you get paid on Depop?+
In the US, the money reaches your Depop Balance 2 business days after delivery or 10 business days after the sale, whichever comes first, and a withdrawal can take up to 5 days to reach your bank. In the UK it is sent automatically on the same timing with Depop Shipping, or 10 business days after delivery with your own shipping.
Do you get Depop fees back if you refund a sale?+
Yes. If a sale is refunded, the selling fee, payment processing fee and Boosting fee are all reversed, automatically for Depop Payments. Sellers paid through PayPal get the Depop selling fee back by contacting Depop support with proof of the full refund.
